Our Fabrics

The Jamies fabric story
Begin with the cloth
We design for slow mornings, long afternoons and evenings that arrive without warning. Every Jamies piece begins with the fabric, chosen for how it feels against the skin, how it moves, and how gracefully it ages. This is the story of the cloth we work with: linen, cotton-linen blends and TENCEL™ Lyocell.

01 · Linen
Character, woven in
Linen is spun from the fibres of the flax plant, one of the oldest textile fibres in the world. It has a crisp, tactile hand, a naturally slubbed surface and an open, airy weave that lets warm air move through. Known for its strength, it softens with every wash, and its gentle creasing is part of its character rather than a flaw.
Cool, textured, softer with every wash
Natural slubs and soft, lived-in creases
Warm days and relaxed silhouettes

02 · Cotton-linen blends
Linen’s soul, cotton’s softness
Our blends pair the airy texture of linen with the softness and smoother hand of cotton. The result drapes easily, feels gentle against the skin and carries the relaxed, lived-in character of linen with a softer touch. You will find it in pieces such as The Dune Set, The Mulberry skirt and our Touch Grass collection.
Soft, breathable and fluid
A subtle linen texture with an easy drape
Everyday wear, from slow mornings to evenings out

03 · TENCEL™ Lyocell
Smooth, fluid, effortlessly cool
TENCEL™ is the brand name for lyocell fibres made by Lenzing from wood pulp. Spun into a smooth, fluid yarn, it has a soft hand and a gentle drape, and it is breathable and good at managing moisture, which keeps it comfortable through the day. According to Lenzing, lyocell is produced in a closed-loop process in which the solvent is recovered and reused. We use TENCEL™ in our men’s lounge shirts, polos, t-shirts, shorts and pyjama pants.
Smooth, soft and light
A fluid drape with a subtle sheen
Lounging, travelling and warm evenings

Fabric questions, answered
Does linen wrinkle?
Yes. Linen creases naturally, and those soft creases are part of its relaxed charm. Drying in the shade and a light steam or iron while slightly damp will smooth it if you prefer a crisper look.
Is linen breathable?
Yes. Its open weave lets air move freely, which is why linen is a favourite for warm weather.
What is TENCEL™ Lyocell?
TENCEL™ is the brand name for lyocell fibres made by Lenzing from wood pulp. It is soft, smooth and breathable, with a fluid drape.
Which fabric should I choose?
Choose linen for texture and a cool, airy feel. Choose a cotton-linen blend for linen’s character with extra softness. Choose TENCEL™ for a smooth, fluid drape.
Are your pieces made to order?
Yes. Every Jamies piece is made to order and dispatched within 5-7 days. See our FAQ for sizing, delivery and returns.
